Free Lunch: The Moosic Youth Center (MYC) will serve as a host site for the summer food service program that will be Mondays through Fridays, now through Friday, Aug. 21. Lunch is free to children to age 18. Kids are invited to stop by while out riding their bikes or just playing outside. Volunteers will serve nutritious lunches like the daily school lunch programs from noon to 1 p.m. All surrounding communities are invited.
This year MYC would like to also provide these children with lunches during the weekend. It is asking for non-perishabe foods, snacks and beverages to be donated by the community. The MYC would like each mom and dad to provide their children with lunch Saturdays and Sundays.
Suggested items include: peanut butter, jelly, tuna, spaghetti, sauce, fruit cups, puddings, crackers, potatoes and vegetables. Some refrigerated/frozen items can be collected as MYC has a refrigerator on site. For the past two years the MYC has provided lunches to approximately 100 children a week. With this year’s economy, the center is expecting higher numbers. Call for 451-3855 to schedule drop off dates and times.
