Calling all princesses, princes and, yes, superheroes too!
Itsy Bitsy Bookworms Child Development Center in Moosic is planning a special Valentine's Day event specifically for Triboro-area children on Saturday, Feb. 11.
"The most important thing is that people realize we are not just providing child care when we're open," said co-owner Hilda Skrzysowski. "We are interested in supporting events and programs that positively benefit children in our community."
Because the center's curriculum is literacy- based, Skrzysowski and her business partner Heather Tucker, along with toddler teacher Deb Miller, decided to organize the "Fairy Tale Valentine Tea," with all proceeds benefiting the Taylor Public Library.
"Literacy is the key to everything," Skrzysowski added.
Currently, Itsy Bitsy Bookworms offers programs for children ages 2-5 years, however children of all ages are invited to attend the Valentine party.
It will feature dainty treats, a craft, story time and, according to the organizers, a special fairy tale guest. Those attending are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite fairy tale characters.
"If they wanted to come dressed as Superman they can," Skrzysowski said. "Fairy tales aren't just about princes and princesses. We'd love it if they'd dress up."
The party will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. at the center, 430 Main St., in Moosic.
Tickets are $5 and are available by calling the library at 562-1234, or 471-3683.
