Volunteer Lunch and Seminar
TAYLOR — The Volunteer Visitors Association (VVA) will hold its first Volunteer Visitor Information Seminar and Luncheon, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, at Riverside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Attendees will be introduced to VVA by its founders and learn more about the organization’s activities and benefits. The event will feature presentations from local social and healthcare professionals in our community and representatives of Riverside Rehab. Breakfast refreshments and a luncheon will be served. Those who wish to attend should call 780-6189 by Thursday, May 9, to reserve a space.
VVA was founded by area hospice professionals and volunteers who saw the profound need in our community for a collective movement to be started which would enlist volunteers to provide ongoing one-on-one visits with the elderly residing in our area nursing homes.
LACKAWANNA COUNTY — The Lackawanna County Medical Society will present its ninth annual free health fair at Nay Aug Park on from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, on Saturday, June 8. The event will include more than 70 vendors and health agencies offering screenings, giveaways, educational handouts and children’s fingerprinting.
