Apple Dumpling Sale
OLD FORGE — St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St., is sponsoring its annual apple dumpling sale. Dumplings can be purchased in regular or sugar free varieties. Can be eaten right away or frozen for the holiday season. Cost is $4. Payment can be sent to St. Nicholas Church, 140 Church St., Old Forge, Pa., 18518. Deadline to order is Friday, Nov. 1. Respect for Life Night
AVOCA — Queen of the Apostles Parish’s social concerns/respect life committee will sponsor a movie night at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 in the parish hall, 742 Spring St., Avoca. The doors open at 5:45 p.m.
The featured presentation, “October Baby,” is an American Christian-themed dramatic film rated PG-13 focusing on a young woman named Hannah who learns that she was almost aborted as a baby. She then embarks upon a road trip to understand the circumstances of her birth.
A light dinner fare will be served before the movie. Tickets are free and can be reserved by calling the parish office at 570-457-3412. Donations will be accepted and will benefit the committee’s project loving care program, which provides handmade blankets and afghans to the homebound of the parish.
Mommy and Me
OLD FORGE — Romar Dance Studio is now taking registrations for its 17th season of Mommy (Daddy) and Me. This is a gym class in movement and fitness for boys and girls, 18 months to 3 years old. Simple coordination, flexibility and listening skills are introduced combining fitness activities, along with musical and rhythmic actions. The structure of the class enables mothers, fathers or grandparents to enjoy the activities along with the student. The six-week fall session will begin on Saturday, Oct. 19. AVOCA — Queen of the Apostles Parish at St. Mary’s Church, 742 Spring St., will have a takeout pasta dinner from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the parish hall. The menu includes penne pasta, meatballs, salad, dressing, a roll with butter and dessert. All proceeds will support Eagle Scout candidate John Smith’s Boy Scout project to purchase and install signs for the public directing them to the church, parish hall and parish cemetery.
RIVERSIDE — Riverside High School Parent-Teacher Student Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the cafeteria of the Riverside High School.
