The next meeting of the Old Forge Historical Society will be on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m., in the Old Forge Borough Building. The guest speaker will be Lisa Mazzarelli from WVIA, who will discuss preparations for an “Our Town” production sometime this year. Everyone is welcome to attend. The society also is looking for any type of artifacts, photos and other things that link us to our historical past in Old Forge. Purse bingo tickets are available.
Labor Day in Moosic
The Moosic Borough department of public works and the business office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of the holiday. Garbage and recyclable collections will be on a one-day-delay schedule.
Festival of the Felittese
The Festival of the Felittese, honoring the 227th anniversary of Our Lady of Constantinople in Felitto, Italy, will be be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9, 5-10 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 10, noon to 10 p.m. at the festival grounds, 145 Third St. in Old Forge. The celebration features Italian specialties and live entertainment. Proceeds benefit the Prince of Peace Parish and local charities.
The festival’s sixth annual 5K race and Fun Walk for Our Lady of Constantinople will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 8:30 a.m. at Old Forge High School Football Stadium.
