Pet First Aid

Are you aware and prepared? Thursday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m., Taylor Community Library, 710 S. Main St. will host instructors Kevin and Lisa Young, who will show you basic first aid for your furry friends. Stop by the library or call 570-562-1234 to register.

Lodge Soup Sale

Acacia Lodge No. 579, 617 Union St. in Taylor, will hold a takeout-only Lenten season soup sale (clam chowder) on Fridays, Feb. 16 through March 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cost: $8 per quart.

Lions Food Sale

The Moosic Lions will hold its annual takeout-only Lenten tuna hoagies and homemade red clam chowder sale Fridays, Feb. 16 through March 30. Hoagies will cost $5 and clam chowder will be $4 per pint or $7 per quart. Proceeds from the sale will help fund the club’s scholarship as well as other community projects.

Night at the Races

Queen of the Apostles Parish will have a night at the races Saturday, Feb. 17, in the parish hall, 742 Spring St., Avoca. The doors open at 5 p.m., and the races begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and includes food and beverages. Horse sponsorships are $10 each. The sponsor of the winning horse wins $50. Sponsorship registration forms are available in the church vestibule or the parish office. They should be returned to the parish office by Friday, Feb. 9, for inclusion in the event program. Returns made after this date will be added to a race the night of the event. Also, food and baked goods donations are welcome. Taylor Police Partner with Carfax

The Taylor Police Department partnered with Carfax so citizens seeking accident reports can now access them online.Electronic copies of accident reports can now be found at crashdocs.org. Using the service is more convenient for citizens who no longer have to call the police department or make a trip in person for the documents, according to the department. There is no additional charge to use the service. Taylor police also now have access to a wide variety of Carfax investigative resources, including extensive vehicle information, the department said.
