Money Awarded
OLD FORGE - State Sen. John Blake announced $100,000 was awarded to the Old Forge Recreation Park project for the construction of a maintenance/restroom building and to complete other landscaping necessary to open the park.
"In times of fiscal constraint, we are fortunate that the state's gaming industry continues to support local projects that promote public safety, recreational improvements, community development and job creation," Blake said. "The local share gaming funds awarded to projects in my district offer essential support to important projects that improve the quality of life for our citizens and stimulate economic activity in local communities."

TAYLOR - State Rep. Kevin Murphy said his staff will hold a constituent outreach visit from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Taylor Borough Building, 122 Union St.
Life Long Learning
SCRANTON - Marywood University's Life Long Learners will present a preview of spring offerings at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Schwartz Center. Snow day will be Sunday, Feb. 12.
Mayor's Proclamation
MOOSIC - Moosic Borough Mayor James Segilia, in recognition of Carissa Cheyenne Lewis, has proclaimed the week of Feb. 7-14, as Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Week, in Moosic borough. Segilia urges all citizens to recognize people born with heart defects and remember loved ones who lost their battle to CHD, and also to honor the dedicated health professionals who work with them.
Night at the Races
OLD FORGE - Holy Rosary School in Duryea will hold its third annual Night at the Races event at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, at Prince of Peace/St. Mary's church hall, 216 Grace St., Old Forge.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes food and drink. Horses will be available for purchase at $15 and includes admission. For more information call Anne McDonnell at 451-1331.
Christian Concert
MOOSIC - The nationally signed recording group Unspoken will offer a free public concert Thursday, Feb. 9, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Moosic Alliance Church, 608 Rocky Glen Road, Moosic.

Scholarships Available
TRIBORO - State Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich announces students can now apply for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Scholarship Program.
The program provides four-year scholarships to two high school seniors per year. Each award consists of the value of one semester of tuition at the State System of Higher Education for each of four years.
"This is a great opportunity to help defray the costs of continuing education. I encourage all students planning to go to college to apply for this scholarship," Kavulich said.
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- graduating high school senior;
- legal resident of Pennsylvania;
- attendance at a Pennsylvania college, university, or career school as a full-time student;
- academic achievement (minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA);
- commitment to community and leadership qualities;
- extracurricular activities; and
- financial need.
The application for this program is available online at www.tfec.org. In addition to the application, students must also submit other scholarship information, their resume, community and leadership skills, FAFSA student aid report, a personal essay, three personal reference letters, their official transcript, a guidance counselor form and a $10 processing fee.
The deadline to submit all of these materials is Thursday, March 1.

Donations Needed
SCRANTON - The University of Scranton's Weinberg Memorial Library is accepting book and tag sale donations for its annual spring book and plant sale during the last weekend of April.
The library is accepting all titles of used hardcover and paperback books, including children's books, cookbooks, fiction and non-fiction. In addition, the library is collecting videos, compact discs, audiocassettes, records and tag sale items. Donations may be placed in the boxes on the Monroe Avenue side of the library, and will be accepted until Wednesday, April 25.
This year's book sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Sunday, April 29, from noon until 4 p.m., in the fifth floor Heritage Room of the Weinberg Memorial Library.
The Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library, the library staff and volunteers will conduct the event. Book prices begin at $1 in addition to specialty-priced items.
