"We're all working together; that's the secret." - Sam Walton
All potential stabs at narcissism aside, dear reader, it was difficult to relinquish control of the Triboro these past few weeks.
I'm not saying I liken myself to Superman, or his alter-ego Clark Kent (although I did loose a recent campaign to have my official business cards read "Shannon the Great"). Thanks to clever planning in the past, no one ever knew when I was vacationing, spending a week or two away from my duties as editor. A recent bout with Crohns changed all of that, as that illness knocked me on my butt and kept me out of work.
Perhaps you noticed the pages of my beloved Triboro looking a bit different ... Maybe you enjoyed the brilliant writing of the Banner's old friend and stringer Stephanie Longo (now editor of the Abington Suburban). She did a great job and had my back, even arraigning an appointment for this week's cover story! Her male counterpart, and co-editor of another publication (The Pocono Times) I parent, Christopher Cornell, also took on more responsibility and spent more hours working to ensure both papers hit the streets with little to no problems during my absence. Thanks also to everyone else in the CNG division. It's great to be back!
You know what else is back, dear reader? The Reader's Choice ballot. See pages 2 and 15, fill it out and mail it in because your voice, your votes count!
