There are golf tournaments, car washes, pig roasts, pasta dinners, bake sales, festivals and other various assorted fundraisers held just about every weekend all throughout the Triboro area, often forcing many groups to unintentionally compete with each other because of a limited resource pool.

Additionally, some groups have the same members belonging to multiple groups and sports organizations, limiting the amount of volunteers or manpower available to work at a fundraising event. That’s why, when it came to fundraising concepts for the Riverside Vikings Touchdown Club, the idea of a simple discount card won out again this year, given its successful track record for the organization.

“This is our third year,” said the booster club’s president Stacie Taroli. “This is a $10 card and is worth approximately $100 in savings.”

The front of the plastic card includes the varsity football team’s 2013 schedule. On the back of the card, there are discount “coupons” to the following:

• 50 cents of any hoagie at Nicki’s Hoagies;

• Free can of soda with $10 purchase at Taylor Deli;

• Free large sandwich with purchase of another large sandwich at McDonalds;

• Free greens fee with purchase of same at Pine Hills;

• 50 percent off state inspection at Sandone Tire;

• 10 percent of $10 or more at Bitty Bills;

• $8 off an oil change at Jack Williams

• $15 off $75 purchase or more at Champs;

at Dominos;

Bell;

or more at FYE

“Every year we try to add more and more local businesses,” Taroli added. “The card can be used every day for a year. We have continued with this fundraiser for the last three years because it supports the program very well and it also gives back to our local businesses.”

Cards are also available at the Riverside Touchdown Club stand during home games.
