Misericordia University recently sponsored the annual Student Research Day on campus. The poster presentations were the culmination of research and work by more than 200 Misericordia student researchers in the College of Health Sciences and Education and the College of Arts and Sciences.
The students presented 103 abstracts to the college community and answered questions related to their individual topics, which included biology, chemistry, history, medical imaging, nursing, physical therapy, physics, psychology and speech-language pathology. University president Dr. Thomas J. Botzman attended the two-hour event along with students, faculty, staff and deans of the colleges.
Senior nursing major Angela Dente of Moosic presented her research, “Have Diversity Issues Impacted Healthcare?,” a study on ethnicity in health care and how cultural competency impacts the quality of care and the decisions of those seeking care.
Darlene Kuchinski-Donnelly, assistant professor of nursing, served as faculty advisor on the project.
