Looking for a way to observe a meatless Friday and help a Triboro-area group raise some dough? If you answered “yes” then the Moosic Lions Club has an offer for you.

By popular demand, the group conducts a homemade Manhattan clam chowder (red) and tuna hoagie sale every Friday during Lent from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Moosic Youth Center.

“This is our third year,” Joe Gandara, president said. “It covers the cost for our annual Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas party.”

Soup is available for $6 per quart or $3 pint and the hoagies are $4 each.

According to organizers, the prices are reasonable and enables area residents an opportunity to provide their families with an easy and inexpensive Lenten meal.

Additionally, the club donates funds to the National Blind Association and provides one annual $500 scholarship for a graduating Riverside senior.

Advance orders can be placed by calling  575-5565, 451-1927 or the Moosic Youth Center at 457-8552 on the day of the sale. Advance orders may also be e-mailed to jogan44@msn.com.

Walk-in orders are also welcome. Delivery is available for orders of eight or more  items.

“They’re delicious  and the funds are reinvested in the community,” Gandara added.
